EMC Documentum 6 Platform Rapid Success Program

EMC will be conducting a Rapid Success Program (RSP) for the Documentum 6 platform release. These are the primary goals of the program:

  • Obtain early, new Documentum 6 deployments
  • Upgrade deployments to Documentum 6
  • Obtain direct input on product features for future releases

Important Dates:

  • Application period is closed
  • Participant selection complete by July 10
  • Execution period: December 2007 — August 2008

Documentum 6 Product Overview

Documentum 6 is EMC's next-generation platform for managing, processing, and archiving all types of unstructured and semi-structured information. All products based on the EMC Documentum platform will have new versions as part of the Documentum 6 release. The Documentum 6 release focuses on several key initiatives:

  • Web services — Documentum 6 extends its SOA architecture with a comprehensive set of industry-standard Web services that will provide a seamless way to access the Documentum capabilities in either Java or .NET environment.
  • Ease of use — Documentum 6 Web clients will make content management even easier to use. With AJAX support, the new clients provide keyboard short-cuts, right-click support, and multi-object actions with no annoying check boxes. New configurability options can further simplify the user experience.
  • Work anywhere — Documentum Client for Outlook will come with offline support to allow people to work in a disconnected mode with subsequent intelligent repository synchronization.
  • Collaborative content management — Documentum 6 platform includes the collaboration capabilities of our award-winning eRoom product line embedded into the core Documentum architecture as well as an enhanced set of federated searching capabilities. The next-generation integration with SharePoint 2007 will be native to the Microsoft applications.
  • Transactional content management — Documentum 6 platform is the foundation for a new class of transactional content solutions, including optimization for scanned image management, significant performance and scalability improvements, comprehensive BPM suite, and a new streamlined client interface designed specifically for workers within content-centric content solutions like loan origination and claims processing.
  • Interactive content management — In Documentum 6, Web Content Management and Digital Asset Management will have a new streamlined user experience.
  • Tooling — Documentum 6 platform will support the Eclipse tooling environment and will unify the user experience for Documentum 6 administration, configuration, deployment, and development tools.
  • Global scale — Documentum 6 will have significantly improved support for distributed environments including remote content appliances.

Documentum 6 will be released in Q3 of 2007 with a simultaneous release of all Documentum 6 products on all supported platforms on all localized languages.
